The commemoration of the victory in World War II is crucial for maintaining inter-ethnic peace in the former Soviet republics, the head of the Russian State University for the Humanities, Efim Pivovar, said today at the Great Victory international forum.
According to the scholar, historical facts may be abused in order to promote hatred. The aim of the scientific community is to prevent such an abuse of history, Professor Pivovar said.
