A round-table conference entitled “Abkhazia in the modern world” organized by the Aynar Media Center and the North-South Center for Political Analysis has started in Sukhumi today. Russian political analysts, officials of the Federal Migration Service, Abkhaz politicians, experts and journalists attend the meeting. Yuri Krupnov, head of the Monitoring Council of the Institute for Demography, Migration and Regional Development, told Vestnik Kavkaza that the conference was organized in a complicate situation.
Krupnov noted that experts should focus on rationalizing controversies and their discussion. In his words, differences in Abkhazia and unresolved issues in relations with Russia were secondary in the context of the geopolitical situation.
To be precise, the expert pointed out the problem of the Galsky district, problems of passport-issuing. He noted that all violations of passport-issuing should not be left without a punishment.
According to Krupnov, Abkhazia had achieved great progress in the past years. He believes that Abkhazia should try to achieve Russian standards, in terms of security and law.
