The Abkhaz republic is celebrating the 69th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
A ceremony of laying flowers took place today at the Park of Glory dedicated to people who died in the Abkhaz War of 1992-1993 (the Georgian-Abkhazian war) and at the monument to the Unknown Soldier at the Sukhumi boardwalk. The remains of soldiers killed in the mountain passes of the Caucasus mountain range in the battle against the German invaders who landed there in 1942 are buried there.
