Krasnodar Mayor Vladimir Yevlanov, speaking at the City Council, proposed Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov to rename Krasnodar to Yekaterinodar, the name the city had had in 1793-1920, Interfax reports.
The mayor expressed confidence that the majority of the population would approve the idea. Yevlanov associates renaming of the city with annexation of Crimea.
