Afghan and Russian drug officers confiscate 300kg of heroin

Victor Ivanov, director of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service, said that about 300kg of heroin and over 8 tons of precursors had been confiscated at the Badakhshan Province of Afghanistan on May 14, RIA Novosti reports.

Russian and Afghan drug officers destroyed 5 labs producing drugs in the province. Five helicopters were used to find them.

This has been the seventh joint operation of Russian and Afghan law enforcers. A total of 24 drug labs, over 28 tons of opiates have been destroyed and over 20 people making and distributing drugs have been detained in the northern part of Afghanistan since September 2010.
