Communists in Krasnodar have spoken out against the idea of Mayor Vladimir Yevlanov to rename the city to Yekaterinodar. The mayor made the proposal at the Krasnodar City Council during a roundup of 2013, Yuga.ru reports.Nikolai Osadchy, first secretary of the Krasnodar Regional Committee of the Communist Party, head of the CPRF faction in the regional parliament, said that the idea had only one purpose: to remove monuments of V. Lenin, the founder of Soviet Russia.The communist added that renaming the city would require refilling of numerous documents for residency, property rights, housing, land, etc. He added that renaming the city in the light of Crimea and Sevastopol annexation was irresponsible.
