The sacred holiday of Ramadan was determined in 622 ad. The Ramadan
month teaches Muslims to love the principles of Allah, gives them an
opportunity to show endurance and stamina, tolerance, attentiveness,
honesty. Muslims have fasting - Orudzhlug.
The history of Orudzhlug starts in the second year of Khidzhra, when
Prophet Mohammed established the month of Ramadan. On one of the last
ten nights of Ramadan Allah presented the Quran to Muslims. The night
is called Lailat al Qadr - the strong and mighty night.
The head of the Russian Mufti Council, sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, has
congratulated all Muslims on behalf of the Russian Mufti Council and
Clerical Administration of Russian Muslims on Ramadan - Id-al-Fitr.
He reminded them the hardships of the Muslim community this summer in
Osh and Jalal Abad. Gaynutdin urged Muslims to be patient and
tolerant, SMR reports.
