Heavy rains and mudslides have caused flooding in Bezengi and Verkhnyaya Balkaria (Chereksky District, Kabardino-Balkaria), ITAR-TASS reports.
A 30-meter section of the Urvan-Ushtulu road, the only road connecting Verkhnyaya Balkaria (population of over 2,500) was damaged. Head of the village’s administration Aslan Atabiyev said that the rivers Kruntu and Kurnayat-suu were overflowing.
Restoration of roads started last night. The region expects more rain and wind at a speed of 20-25m/s.
