Georgia is marking its Independence Day. The Georgian National Council passed the independence act in Tbilisi on May 26, 1918. Today, Georgians are having a day off to mark the 96th anniversary of independence. Special events will be organized in Batumi, Mtskheta, Batumi, Kutaisi, Gori, Zugdidi, Potu, Ambrolaudi, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe, Ozurgeti and Rustavi. Exhibitions, concerts and other events will be organized at their central squares.
No military parade will be organized this year. The military will take the oath on Freedom Square. An exhibition of the Georgian defense industry will open on Rustaveli Avenue. Other ministries will present information stands. The “Flower Festival” and a painting sale will open at the Opera and Ballet Theater. Two 9-hour concerts will be performed in front of the parliament building and on Europe Square, News Georgia reports.
