Unknown assailants opened fire at Colonel Omar Mugadov, head of the
Federal Penal Service of Dagestan and the head of a penal colony, at
23.30 Moscow time in Makhachkala. He died at the scene, while his wife
was wounded in the shoulder, RIA Novosti reports.
