Several illegal pipelines for gasoline-smuggling have been found in Hatay Province on the Turkish-Syrian border. They are 50km long in total, ITAR-TASS reports.
Smugglers laid 55 pipelines, each about a kilometer long, from Syria to Turkey. The border runs along the River Oront, so the pipelines were built on boats.
Cigarettes and gasoline are the main goods for smuggling in the south-eastern parts of Turkey.
