Georgian Education Ministry to distribute free schoolbooks

 

Georgian Minister for Education and Science Tamara Sanikidze said that pupils of grades 1-12 will receive free schoolbooks, News Georgia reports.Concerning pupils of private schools, she clarified that free books will be given to children from poor families, children of soldiers killed in the August 2008 war and those who studied in schools before they were privatized. Free books will be given in Abkhaz and South Ossetian schools teaching in Georgian.The Education Ministry granted about 13 million lari (about $7.5 million) for purchase of new books within the framework of the program for supplying pupils with books initiated in 2013.
