Sumgayite in Azerbaijan has unveiled a memorial complex to Uzeyir
Hajibeyov, dedicated to the 125th birthday of the distinguished
composer, Trend reports, citing the press-service of the executive
authorities of the city.
Minister of Culture Abdulfaz Garayev, head of the executive
authorities of Sumgayit, heads of institutions and enterprises,
publicity were at the ceremony.
The monument to Uzeyir Hajibeyov was designed by Vagif Nazirov. It is
12 m tall with a pedestal of 7.5 x 7.5 m. The pedestal was built in
the form of a grand piano and was covered with black granite. The
background of the bronze bass relief is covered with marble. On the
other side of this background there are bronze pictures of Azerbaijani
national musical instruments - tar, kamancha and gaval.
