Moscow mayor presents map of city crimes

 

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin presented the electronic crime map of Moscow to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the Center for Organizing Road Traffic, ITAR-TASS reports.The mayor explained that the map was based on video monitoring. He noted that cameras had helped solve over a thousand crimes, including almost all much-publicized crimes.Sobyanin said that the map gives information about the type and date of crime. It shows the most common places of crimes, usually subway exits, markets and trade centers.The map was made after the events in Moscow’s Biryulevo District.According to Sobyanin, Moscow has about 140,000 cameras monitoring porches, yards and public places of the city. The cameras are being installed on metro carriages and transportation systems.
