Sergey Chernomorets, a senior scientist of the Geography Faculty of the MSU, said that the Devdorak and Kolka glaciers moving from the top of the Kazbek Volcano on both sides of the Caucasus Range were dangerous. A part of the Devdorak Glacier broke off in May, blocked the Georgian Military Road and caused flooding of Terek, ITAR-TASS reports.
The remaining Devdorak Glacier is a wall 50-70m high that may crash at any moment, especially considering seismic risks in the area.
The Kolka Glacier is not a serious threat to the Karmadon Gorge of North Ossetia. It will not move for 5-10 years.
