Kazakhstan studies native genome

Specialists at Nazarbayev University have started studying the genome of the Kazakhstan population, as stated by Zhaksybay Zhumadilov, the director general of the University’s Center for Life Science. He reminded that the genome profile affected the body’s reaction to medication and illnesses, Trend reports.

According to the scientist, 99.9% of the genetic profile of people all over the world is the same, only 0.1% of it needs studying.

Data collected from the research would help forecast diseases 5-6 years ahead and develop individual medication for every person, so-called personalized medicine.
