Ukraine opens border for Russian humanitarian aid

41 Ukrainian border guards and 18 customs officers started checking the Russian humanitarian convoy at the Donetsk Checkpoint at 11.00am today. The convoy will take the E40 highway to Luhansk. Humanitarian aid will be handed to the Red Cross for further distribution, RIA Novosti reports.

BBC, Bloomberg, Reuters, Associated Press and France Press journalists checked over 20 trucks and talked with drivers. Dmitry Ponomarev said that he was offered double pay for delivering the cargo.

280 white trucks left Albino on Tuesday. They carry 400 tons of grain, 100 tons of sugar, 62 tons of children’s food, 54 tons of medications, 12,000 sleeping bags and 69 power generators.
