A mudslide in the Darial Gorge blocking the Georgian Military Road has broken the North Caucasus – Trans-Caucasus gas pipeline and caused a shutdown at the Ezminskaya Dam of the North Ossetian branch of RusHydro, EnergoNews reports.
Many stones and mud got into the River Terek, making operation of dams unsafe. The flow of stones and mud has already stopped but personnel need to clear underwater parts of the dam before relaunching it.
The Dzaujikauskaya and Pavlodolskaya dams are continuing to operate on the Terek.
