Russians commemorate Moscow metro tragedy

On Saturday Muscovites commemorate the July 15th tragedy in the Moscow metro, when three carriages derailed, killing over 20 people.

According to Russian tradition, on the 40th day after death one's soul leaves the body for the other world. On this day friends and relatives of the deceased gather together in order to share their grief and to commemorate the deceased.

Patriarch of Russia Kirill is going to pray for the dead victims of the catastrophe in Moscow's Nikolo-Peshnoshsky monastery.

The catastrophe in the metro was caused by a technical accident. Head of the metro Ivan Besedin was fired as a result. Four employees have been charged.

The authorities also started an inspection of metro facilities.
