Irakly Chilingarashvili, the head of the legal assistance department of Georgian prosecutors, said that the Main Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has sent a request to the Interpol General Directorate to put ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili on the wanted list according to the Red Notice, Georgia Online reports.
The Georgian ambassador to Greece said that Saakashvili and Levan Varshalomidze, the ex-prime minister of Adjara, were detained by the Greek police on a yacht off the island of Samos for 4 hours, only to be released later. Varshalomidze denied the information and said that he was in Kiev.
Saakashvili is on the Georgian wanted list for a crackdown on the opposition on November 7, 2007, a pogrom at the Imedi TV office, beating MP Valery Gelashvili and wasting budget funds.
