Russian president Vladimir Putin personally headed the military-industrial commission which is still under authority of the government. The increase in its status has allowed it to coordinate questions of the organization of the performance of state defense more accurately. At the same time, the president declared that Russia didn't intend to be involved in a new arms race. "The decree about formation of the military-industrial commission of the Russian Federation has been signed. Thus the status of this structure is raised," the head of state noted during a meeting on military industrial complex development. He explained that the commission would work under his direct management. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has been appointed the vice-chairman of the commission, and the responsible secretary to will be the deputy minister of defense, Yury Borisov
