Due to street begging becoming a serious problem for the big cities of Turkey, the authorities of the country have introduced penalties and criminal liability for begging. The head of the safety directorate has prepared a corresponding circular and dispatched it to all police departments of Turkey.Now suppressing attempts at begging for money on streets will be part of the duties of the police. Other traditional trades for Turkey such as selling water, paper scarves, chips and chargers at crossroads will be forbidden. Violators will be detained and administrative cases with fines of $40 will be initiated.
