Zarui Medzhlumyn, the head of the Armenian Innocence Program, said that about 40 people serving life imprisonment have declared a hunger strike and demanded an appeal, according to amendments to the Armenian Criminal Code passed on May 25, 2011, Trend reports.
The hunger strike has been ongoing since July, when the ministry assured convicts that certain steps would be made in a month.
