A special group of 30 rescuers of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies has been formed to search for Leyla Albogachiyeva, a mountaineer who went missing at a height of 5,300m on Elbrus on September 24, says Vitaly Plennikov, the acting head of the North Caucasus Regional Center of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies, ITAR-TASS reports.
Two days ago, a helicopter was mobilized in Lermontov. A helicopter from Mineralniye Vody will be lifted today. Searches are complicated by snow, fog and poor visibility.
Albogachiyeva has climbed Mt. Everest twice and climbed Mt. Elbrus several times. Her belongings, bag pack, sleeping bag and a tent have been found. Rescuers have been searching for her since September 22.
