Iran has over 5,000 illegal websites

Iranian Deputy Minister for Culture Hossein Entezami said that Iran had over 5,000 websites that had not been registered at the Culture Ministry. In his words, measures will be taken against all websites operating without a license, Trend reports.


The deputy minister clarified that 6,800 news websites were licensed in Iran, 350 filed bids for license. Some of the world's most popular social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, are banned in Iran. Users may still use proxy servers to access them.
