Armenia to hold test census in November

Armenia will hold a test census in November, the PR department of the
Ministry of Territorial Management said, News Armenia reports.


The issue was discussed during a meeting of Vice-Premier Armen
Gevorkyan and the Minister of Territorial Management.


The head of the National Statistics Service Stepan Mnatsakanyan, the
governors of Tavush and Gegarkunik regions Armen Gularyan and Never
Pogosyan were also at the meeting, because the census will be held in
the city of Sevan in the Gegarkunik region and in the village
communities of Getahovit, Gandzakar, Achadjur and Hashtarak in the
Tavush region.


There will be meetings in the Tavush and Gegarkunik regions for
organising the test census.


The full census will be held on October 12-21, 2011. The first census
of Armenia after independence was held in October 10-19, 2001, which
showed that the Armenian population stood at 3.2 million.
