The Defense Ministry of Georgia declared its readiness to declassify documents on purchasing fiber optic cable and networking equipment due to initiation of a criminal case. Earlier it was stated that the prosecution of Georgia had arrested five top officials of the Ministry.
The Defense Ministry of Georgia, according to the investigation, signed a contract with the Silknet Company on the state purchase of fiber optic cable and networking equipment under conditions of buying, installing and servicing on December 26th 2013. According to the contract, the Defense Ministry should pay $3.8 million to Silknet. $3.79 million has already been paid. According to the investigation, the Ministry is due to receive the equipment and service from Silknet on January 16th 2015; experts state that they are actually only worth $1.49 million.
