The police have killed militants in the village of Kirovaul, including
Shakhban Aliyev, who was to become the new leader of the Kizilyurt
resistance groups. The former leader was killed in September, RIA
Novosti reports, citing the Information Center of the National
Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCTC).
Last night the police and the local department of the FSB in Dagestan
surrounded a militant group in the village of Kirovaul in the
Kizilyurt Region. A counter-terrorism operation regime was introduced.
Five militants were killed.
According to the NCTC, the militants were involved in attacks on
police. The police found a suicide belt, automatic arms, grenades and
ammunition.
