Astrakhan ex-mayor gets 10 years of jail and large fine for taking bribe

 

The Kirov District Court of Astrakhan has sentenced Mikhail Stolyarov, an ex-mayor of Astrakhan, to 10 years of high security jail and a fine of 500 million rubles for taking a bribe. Judge Natalya Senchenko emphasized that Stolyarov had not admitted guilt and refused to testify, Interfax reports.According to investigators, Stolyarov received a bribe worth 10 million rubles at a restaurant in Astrakhan for allowing a company to lease a land lot. He also handed a package of documents to let his friend get a share in the charter capital of the company. Stolyarov was detained immediately.
