Chechen gets 2 years of jail for joining Caucasus Emirate

The Zavodskoy District Court of Grozny has sentenced Sayid Mazhayev, a Chechen resident, to 2 years imprisonment for taking part in the war in Syria as a member of the Caucasus Emirate, TASS reports.

Mazhayev entered Syria in June 2013. He was a militant from November 2013 to January 2014. Chechen agents detained him in June 2014. He will spend two years in a general regime penal colony and will have his freedom restricted for a year.
