Prosecutor Radimkhan Dubayeva asked the court to sentence Yerlan Aryn, an ex-governor of the Pavlodar Region, to 5 years of jail for receiving bribes, for fraud and money-laundering. Aryn’s lawyer said that the accusations had no proof and demanded release of the client, RIA Novosti reports.The suspect was detained in March 2014 for stealing money acquired as sponsor funds for beautification of Pavlodar (the administrative center of the region), receiving large bribes. Most of the 10 charges were dropped later, including formation of an organized criminal group, acquisition and waste of budget funds.
