The World Russian People’s Council held its 3rd forum in Stavropol on November 26-27. Its attendees proposed formation of research centers at the North Caucasus Federal University to study problems raised at forums, Yuga.ru reports.
The problems include interethnic dialogue and civilization identity.
Valery Fadeyev, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Expert, expressed satisfaction with the return of the term “Russian” to the language and culture. Muhammad-Haji Rakhimov, the mufti of Pyatigorsk, said that Muslims can consider themselves part of the “Russian world.” Metropolitan Kirill concluded that Russian national consciousness based on cultural and religious tradition was the main guarantee of unity and peace.
