Armenian jewellers will teach Belarus specialists

Belarus specialists will study jewelry skills in Armenia, Valentin
Chekanov, Belarus Minister of Trade and chairman of the Belarus part
of the commission, said on Tuesday after a session of the
Armenian-Belarus inter-governmental commission for trade and economic
cooperation, Arka reports.


The 8th session of the inter-governmental commission was held in
Yerevan on September 27-28. The sides discussed a wide range of issues
concerning trade-economic, healthcare, agricultural, scientific,
educational and cultural cooperation, IT and strengthening ties
between regions. A protocol was signed.


The sides will also exchange goods they produce. They will promote
their goods in Belarus and other markets.


The Armenian-Belarus inter-governmental commission ordered the
Ministry of Finances and the Ministry of Economy of Belarus to
continue improving cooperation between the Yerevan jewelry factory and
the "Crystal" enterprise in Gomel, supplying Armenia with diamonds
from Belarus.


The Armenian National Statistics Service reported that trade turnover
between Armenia and Belarus dropped by 6% in 2009, amounting to $29.3
million. Armenian exports to Belarus amounted to $4.6 million (0.7% of
all Armenian exports), rising by 66% compared to 2008.


Belarus exported $24.7 million worth of goods, a drop of 13.1%. The
total value of imports to Belarus was $22 million (an 11% drop), or
0.7% of total imports.
