Iran and Russia expand cooperation

Russian Minister of Education and Science, Andrey Fursenko, has met
Iranian Minister of Education and Nurturing, Doctor Hamid Reza Hadji
Babai. The Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Mahmoud Reza Sadjadi, was at
the meeting. Fursenko said that he welcomes development of ties and
cooperation between Iran and Russia in education and expressed support
for experience exchange, Iran News reports.


At a meeting of the Universal Conference of UNESCO in Moscow for
nurturing and education of minors, Fursenko emphasized the importance
of the two countries' rapprochement. He mentioned the success of
Iranian pupils at school academic competitions.


Babai noted that Iranian pupils achieved medals at the international
science academic competitions. He mentioned Iranian pupils' sporting
achievements, winning the World Cup in volleyball and becoming world
champions in handball.


The Iranian minister proposed the preparation and signing of a
bilateral memorandum on mutual understanding in cooperation in
scientific-academic competitions and exchanges of school books and
exercise books. The Russian side welcomed the decision and said that
specialists are ready to work on such a document.
