Iran's navy foils pirate attack on Iranian oil tanker

On December 29 Iranian warships repelled a pirate attack on an oil tanker.


The attack was carried out by eight pirate boats in the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, which links the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. This was reported by the Iranian news agency Fars News on Monday.


At the time of the attack, Iran's navy were carrying out mass military drills in the area, which started on December 25.


The Iranian Navy's 32nd flotilla of warships was dispatched to the Gulf of Aden early to protect the country's commercial ships and oil tankers against pirates, its ships repelled the attack
