Acting Head of the Moscow Labour Department Vadim Kudryashov said that over a million foreign workers had been in Moscow on December 25. Over 180,000 of them were working according to quotas. The official noted that expansion of the patent system will increase the number of visa-free migrants arriving for work in 2015, RIA Novosti reports.
Kudryashov clarified that migrants preferred to work in construction, trade, transportation. In his words, the government was trying to replace migrants with Russian workers, using the population of the Moscow Region, oblasts of Vladimir, Voronezh, Ryazan, Smolensk, Yaroslavl.
