Criminals wanted by the LAPD opened fire on a patrol car on Sunday evening. By happy coincidence, two police officers who were in the car were not injured. There were two assailants, one was detained.
The latest attack comes amid continuing protests against police brutality that engulfed the United States after the killing of unarmed black Americans Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and Eric Garner in New York.
On Saturday in New York the funeral was held of policeman Rafael Ramos, who was gunned down with his partner when they were also in a patrol car. Then the attacker, who later committed suicide, said that he had committed the murder in revenge for the actions of the police. The law enforcement agencies have not yet announced the motives of the latest offense.
