The Year of Literature starts in Russia today. The Russian government will allocate about 300 million rubles for arrangements for the Year of Literature. Exhibitions, fairs and festivals are planned to be held.
According to the Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky, “the Year of Literature gives us an opportunity to think how we can revive interest in reading.” A new school programme on literature should help settle the task.
