In the province of West Azerbaijan in northwest Iran, guards detained three people crossing the border, who were intending to enter the territory of Iraq and to join the terrorist organization Islamic State.
This was announced by the commander of the Border Guards of Iran, Major-General Qasim Rezai. He did neither stated the names and citizenship of the detainees nor the country from which they came.
According to him, during the inspection explosive devices were found and seized, the Iranian news agency Fars News reports on Monday.
West Azerbaijan province borders Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iraq, the news agency Trend notes.
