Jabhat al-Nusra affiliated terrorists have blown up the 13th-century tomb of Imam Nawawi, a famous Islamic scholar, in southern Syria.
“Terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra fought through to the tomb of imam Nawawi in Nawa, which is situated 45 km west of Deraa. Then they blew it up. It led to the destruction of most of the tomb,” RIA Novosti reports.
Nawawi, born in Nawa, wrote many books on Islam and was a highly regarded scholar. He died in 1277.
