Pentagon will cut European military bases to save costs

The Pentagon has announced a restructuring of operations in Europe to save costs.

As a result, the consolidation of US bases will save about $500 million per year. The reorganization will affect about 15 military bases and will last for several years. Basically it touches the military and civilian personnel database in the UK and Portugal. The changes involve mainly Army and Air Force personnel, and would result in an overall reduction of about 2,000 people, RIA Novosti reported.
