The head of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey (Diyanet), Mehmet Germez, has condemned the recent attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine office in Paris, describing it as a direct attack on Islam and its followers.
"This attack is directed to erase the noble values that were brought to humanity by the Prophet Muhammed, the messenger of mercy and peace. This is a direct attack on Islam and the followers of this noble religion, Muslims," RIA Novosti quoted Germez.
