Truce in the Donbas came to an end

Ukrainian troops have been ordered to open mass fire on militia positions in the region of Donetsk.

"We can say that two hours ago, the whole group of our troops in B sector opened mass fire," Advisor to the President of Ukraine, the Assistant Secretary of Defense Yury Biryukov wrote on his Facebook page.

"We observed a truce, right? We have shown that we are interested in a peaceful settlement, huh? Well, today we will show how we can smash their teeth out," he said.

Information about the shootings was confirmed at Donetsk City Hall.

"As of 10.00 there is an extremely tense situation in Donetsk. Gunfire from heavy weapons is heard across the city," RIA Novosti cited its message.

The situation in the Donbas region has significantly deteriorated over the past few days, especially near Donetsk Airport.

President of Ukraine Poroshenko signed a decree on the fourth wave of mobilization on Jan. 14. He announced the deployment of additional forces to the area of Donetsk on Jan. 16.

The Defense Ministry of the breakaway Donetsk People's Republic announced the capture of Donetsk Airport yesterday, formerly controlled by Ukrainian law enforcers. However, this information was denied in Kiev.

After that, troops attempted to break through to the airport with a detachment of 10 tanks and several infantry fighting vehicles, but they had no success. At the same time, according to the militia, they lost three tanks and one IFV.
