The Deputy Interior Minister of Georgia, Levan Izoria said today that amendments to the Criminal Code regarding the participation of Georgian citizens in illegal armed operations on the borders of the republic do not refer to citizens of Georgia fighting on the side of the official authorities in Ukraine.
The amendment is meant to prevent Georgian citizens from fighting in Syria and Iraq on the side of militants. In case of violation, the law provides for 5 to 10 years of imprisonment.
