Police officers responsible for death of protester get 10 years of jail

Police officers Mevlut Saldogan and Yalcin Akbulut have been sentenced to 10 years of jail at the Kayseri Court for beating up protester Ali Ismail Korkmaz on June 2, 2013. The activist died in hospital 38 days after the police attack, TASS reports. 

The police officers have been under arrest for 1.5 years. They will spend more 2.5 years in jail. The court will monitor them after their release.
