The Bowl of Prophet Muhammad will be brought from Chechnya to Moscow for the opening of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque in 2016. Muhammad’s hair will be exposed for visitors, then returned to Chechnya. The hair has recently been displayed in the capital, the Spiritual Administration of Russian Muslims reports.
The new mosque will be completed in May 2016. It will have room for up to 10,000 visitors.
Muhammad’s Bowl is over 1,400 years old. According to a legend, the relic was kept by the prophet’s descendents. It later appeared in the UK and was taken to Chechnya after that.
