Storm blocks airports in Istanbul

A wind storm that hit Istanbul yesterday has caused the cancellation of 103 flights at Istanbul's Ataturk and Sabih Gokcen airports, leads a message on the airports' websites.

The storm, accompanied by wind speeds of up to 100 km/h, has also led to the termination of the ferry service between the European and Asian parts of Istanbul before February 1. According to weather reports, such weather over the large territory of Turkey will last until February 3, RIA Novosti reports.

Gales with speeds of 50-80 km/h in the next few days are also expected in the west and south-west of Turkey on the Aegean coast, and in the north-west of the country in the Black Sea region.
