Two ferries plan this morning to go to on trial journeys at the Kerch ferry crossing, which has been closed since last night because of a storm, the United Transportation Directorate (ETD) reports.
Currently in the Kerch Strait gusts are reaching 17 meters per second. Because of the wind, the crossing is not yet able to resume working in normal mode.
"There is a ferry loading of the Jonas and the Olympiad, which plan to make trial journeys. After that it will be decided whether it is possible to continue working in these weather conditions," RIA Novosti quotes the message of the directorate.
"Due to the current storm warnings, as well as a large number of trucks on storage sites, reconstruction of the quay at the Port Krym on February 1 will not be carried out. The ferry will operate without interruption, depending on weather conditions," the directorate added.
Due to bad weather a queue for the ferry has begun to grow again. In Port Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Region the number of cars waiting to be ferried, has doubled each day up to 100 cars and trucks; in Port Krym, as well as the previous morning, the ferry is being waited for by about 30 cars.
