Extremists of Islamic State (IS) has beheaded second Japanese hostage Kenji Goto. The corresponding video was circulated by Islamists, reports the organization SITE, which monitors the activities of Islamic militants on the internet.
"I appeal to the government of Japan," said a man in a mask in English, which SITE calls 'Jihad John', "you and your allies should understand one thing - we are hungry for your blood," TASS reports him as saying.
The published video is highly likely to be authentic, Minister of Defense Geng Nakatani told reporters. "Police believe that the video really captures Kenji Goto," said Nakatani. A special unit at the General Police Directorate of Japan is checking this and all previous videos from IS
The US administration claimed they have seen the recording, but cannot yet confirm its authenticity."The United States strongly condemns the actions of IS and calls for the immediate release of all hostages remaining in the hands of this group," said an administration official, adding that the United States expressed support for its ally Japan.
