Imam of Mansour mosque is beaten up in Nulchik

After being beaten up by unknown assailants in Nalchik, the imam of the Mansour mosque, a teacher at the Islamic Institute, Anzor Shkhanukov, was hospitalized, the head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Human Rights Centre, Valery Khatazhukov, writes on his page on Facebook.The incident happened on the evening of January 31 near the house of the imam."At about 21:00 he arrived home in his car. At the entrance to the staircase he was approached by two unknown young men who without explanation began to beat him up. With numerous bruises and injuries, he was taken to the emergency room," the news portal YUGA quotes the message of Khatazhukov.Anzor Shkhanukov was approved as the imam of the Alexandrovka Mansour mosque, located in the neighborhood, in October 2007. The mosque was closed by the authorities in 2004, but was reopened in 2007.
